Pink Tulips in a Garden

"Pink Tulips in a Garden"
3 1/2" x 10"
pastel on Wallis sandpaper
I love painting these long thin pieces.  In the past, they were my favorite.  At one time, I think I did a whole show with just about all art in this format.  It isn't surprising I find my comfort zone here.  Funny, how one relies on those old ideas to get revved up again.   It's kind of like most things...like playing piano or guitar or the proverbial "riding a bike"...gotta start somewhere.  However, each time I stay away from the easel for awhile,
I feel I lose something.
I think maybe just the lack of forward movement creates this odd feeling
And therefore - everything I do that is involving my art feels this way,
looks this way and IS this way.
Can't explain it, but I know I am going to go find it again!
For sale in my Etsy shop.

Festive tulips! It's great to have a subject that helps you get back in the groove, or experiment with, or feel comfortable when needed! And, it will come back!

Pattie, you never look like you've missed a beat. Sometimes I wonder if the rustiness feeling comes with a painting that is not going down as smoothly as you'd like. Because this subject/format are familiar, you probably felt pretty comfortable doing this piece. It certainly is beautiful.

Hey Vern, I realize that just by writing about it, makes it so these days...so I am going to put it aside. It is what it is..as artists we work through it, it's part of the package. The crux of it is being a better 'time manager'. Today, I can't wait to get back out there and 'hit it'! Thanks for your comments!

RE: Barns
Oooooh, the bottom left one looks so familiar...... down near Sedalia maybe?

RE: Pink Tulips
Momentum is a curious thing.
I agree, I think it's natural to go back to things we know in times of uncertainty, especially after taking time away. Kind of like 'comfort food'.
Keep on keeping on!! (You know we love ya'!)
