Where I Stand Sunday -

This "Where I Stand" is a special one. I am getting near the end of my job in KC - staying at Mom and Dad's house.  Next Friday it will be 40 days away from my beloved home in the country.  I will be going home (and I can't wait), BUT...I will be missing out on the celebration of my parents 65th Wedding Anniversary, so we had a celebration tonight.   This is our feet on my bed in my room listening to my new multimedia speakers.  We had such a good time - laughing and falling all over the place when we likened it to a similar celebration when they were all at my BA Degree in Education celebration in 1990, when many of us (my brother and I, my sister-in-law and not present this time my daughter and nephew) sat on my bed laughing and falling off the bed until the wee hours...or at least past the sensible time for the travelers who were headed back to KC in the morning from the mountains above Denver.  This time, mom and dad WERE involved in the laughter and the fun and the craziness.  In 1990, they were the ones reminding us to turn it down and go to bed.  Ha!!
So hope you catch a taste of what it is like in my family this night.
Had a great dinner, great trip down Memory Lane - 65 years ago.  Cherishing these times we can be together and have just a 'silly blast'.  Happy Anniversary MOM and DAD!!  Your love for each other showed us that life can be wonderful and that LOVE and TOGETHERNESS ENDURES!!

Where I Stand Sunday

I have been fortunate to be able to be with Mom AND Dad on Mother's and Father's Day.  This afternoon the "kids" are doing simultaneous grillin' and fondue-in' for our Dad on his special day. Love you Dad!!  Happy Father's Day!  And a shout out to all my friends and relatives who are "dad's" - hope you have had contact with your kids and your day was special, as well!

Where I Stand Sunday

It's been a week, I told myself I at least had to keep up 'Where I Stand'...and I see they have a new template designer thing-a-ma-bob on Blogger.  Will have to familiarize myself with that one at a later time.  The weather has been sooo rainy  - today I caught the bright sun for a little bit for this place I stood - on the deck, just back from shopping with mom and dad.  Mom is back to chemo - weekly - this ain't easy - I see it and I know it.  Cancer treatments are NOT for sissies.  I am thinking of that great celebration when they one day find a cure!!  In the meantime, hang in there mom - and all the rest of you out there...as well.

Where I Stand Sunday...the easel in my head

I've got to hand it to the artist's who work a job and THEN create and paint...it is not easy. in fact, it isn't happening for me right now - although I try to be there.  Every summer for the past three, I have been working a job in the city for a company that is in their "busy season".  It is a blast - I really enjoy it.  I'm starting my third week tomorrow - therefore I'm "light" on the blogging and FB and all things cyberworld.

Getting up at 5:30 AM - on the road at 6:30 and working 9 and 10 hour days 6 days a week doesn't lend itself to feeling like being serious or having fun in front of the easel. I know some who do it, and I now think those artists are superhuman!  My mind seems to be there, but my body is not.  I am really enjoying the work.  I work half a day in the engraving department - and another half day working in the packing and shipping department - both jobs would definitely show up on my job preference scale at about 110%.  This job for me will be winding down by the end of the month.  Saving for that autumnal trip to the Oregon coast in the RV..

Another bonus to this, is right now I live with mom and dad  - spending time with them has a sweetness of it's own.  Seeing my brother and his fam is also a plus.  Since college, we have lived miles and miles from each other (we are talking eons..).  I will also get to see and visit with an uncle who is visiting this week that I haven't seen in almost 30 years.

I miss my home and hubster and the pups - but we are in daily contact and I will be making a midway trip to get my 'home fix'...I am missing all that garden growing and mowing. ☺  Today is a day off...time to refresh and rest - a true Sunday.  In the meantime, I am painting... at the easel in my head.
