An Acrylic Painting of White Ducks

"Pekin Ducks"
12" x 36"
acrylic on wrapped canvas

Once upon a time, my young daughter and I made trips to parks to feed the ducks.
This painting is comprised of 5 of the many duck photos I have from those trips.
Although they are just your average barnyard
type of  'farm duck', I think there is something very special about them.
I love their pristine 'whiteness' - it is so regal.
The water and the reflections were most fun to paint.
This one will go to 'Independence Gallery' in June.

You can see them also on Fine Art America HERE.

A Pastel of Cottonwood Trees in Spring

"Cottonwoods in Spring"
18" x 13"

Took many photos on my recent trip to Colorado..on my way home,
I noticed how the Cottonwoods along the waterways were starting to bud.
I took them a step further to show more budding than the camera captured.
I loved seeing that hint of yellow and light green
amongst the dark and dreary gray skeletons.
Colorado skies are SO blue - had to capture that as well!

Inflation - watercolor

"Inflation" - 11" x 14", watercolor on illustration board

A good friend shared the photo for this painting with me. It's from the Rocky Mountain Balloon Fest at Chatfield Reservoir in Littleton, Co., it occurred last August. If you recall, that's where we stayed in January when we went there for the wedding.

I decided this one would look good in watercolor with those fresh colors of blues and oranges. It is done on illustration board. I am trying to use stiffer and more permanent surfaces lately, to prevent warping and buckling of papers, a phenomenon since coming to Kansas. Soon it will be the time of year for warping paper, although I can't believe it, it's been winter for so long!

Adventures in Pyrography

Last year about this time, I purchased a cheapo woodburning set and some little wood pieces and tried my hand at woodburning.  I made a few...
