Afternoon Sun - a Country Dog's Tale

These fall afternoons, when the temperature is do-able and the winds are none..it's nice to sit out and just contemplate the quiet of the changing season.

There is nothing to excite us, we casually check outside our confines to make sure the world is an "OK" place.

The warmth of the sun, makes us feel at ease.

In fact, it makes us down right sleepy...

"Excuse me if I nod off a bit."

"Uuhhhh...Let me catch some serious warmth here."

"Oh well, I can tell something is in the wind...I must get up and check it out."

"Huh???  What is that??"

So that's whose been trying to dig
under the foundation into the cellar and crawlspace!!
(The quality of this last photo was compromised by the fleeing photographer as she attempted to corral herself and her dogs away from the source of the smell that was being "let out" in a 360 degree pattern from this swirling critter.)

New Lid on House

We had 9 "busy bees" on our roof all day today. What a feat! I have a new respect for people who "roof". I watched them walk up and down the face of the 9 or 10/12 pitch without a hitch, or much less fall, I know I couldn't do that. G and I decided we could have never even tore off the old roof in a day, much less put on a new one! Wow! I had to work this evening, but I will let you know tomorrow, how it looks! All I saw when I got home was Mr. Skunk hangin out on the driveway, then he ran to the shed. which is what he always does, and I ain't goin there to check him out! I must say, skunks are creatures of habit!

At the End of Another Week...

As fast as I can, I am going to get some new works done. It will be a few days and then I will be posting again. In the meantime, here's some fun photography of our weimaraner at WARP speed. Even though he broke his leg so badly a few years back, he can race with the greyhounds!
Good work Doc Peterson!
P.S. If anyone knows how to humanely rid ourselves of a rogue skunk please send us some ideas. We aren't into catch and cage. We read they hate water (but that would make all of our firewood wet) and we heard they also don't like "light", so the light may be plugged into the shed tonight. We will be trying to rid the land of the "grubs" they like to eat. There is also a place online that sells "fox urine" dust, which tells the skunk his 'predator' is around, but I don't think I can support a company that collects it. Now how humane would that process be??? (and why would a fox, hunt a skunk???)

Adventures in Pyrography

Last year about this time, I purchased a cheapo woodburning set and some little wood pieces and tried my hand at woodburning.  I made a few...
