A LONG One

Sometimes it's hard to know where they begin
and end when they are cuddled up like this.
They know when and how to hunker down.
So cold and crummy right now.
More snow on the agenda.

I am on to bigger and better paintings.
A larger one is begun!
Stay tuned!

Where I Stand Sunday

"There is a privacy about it which no other season gives you .....
In spring, summer and fall people sort of have
an open season on each other; only in the winter,
in the country, can you have longer, quiet stretches when
you can savor belonging to yourself."
- Ruth Stout

Just to ease the minds of those living in the eastern US, we are in the line-up for more snow early this week and we are already 'back in the freezer'.  There is something interesting about winter and this big elm.  You can see all the houses that were set up this past year.  Didn't think I would say it, but I am anxious for the homes to fill up and some to be added - someday soon!

Where I Stood...

OK already, I know I requested some winter - awhile back in September/October...I remember I said, "Bring it on!!"  But now I would like to retract that statement and say, "Make it stop!!"
It wouldn't make any difference if I stood here on Friday, Saturday or today, perhaps there would be snowflakes falling today.  That's the forecast anyway.  This drab, no color landscape has a way of working on your nerves. Beautiful..in certain times and certain ways..like the first first or second snowfall.  It seems permanently stamped in front of my face, every day.  I know so many of you hold the same feeling.  So - here I stand..
make it go away!!
Where I Stand Sunday is an ongoing photo essay examining the different places I spend my life standing. Too often we take for granted the everyday places we spend our lives walking on. If you'd like to join me by posting a photo on Sunday of places you've been on your blog/photo hosting site/website, leave a comment on this post telling me where I can find you/your photo and I'll add a link to my sidebar so others can find you.

Where I Stood

Each day brings - a mystery.  This has been a winter of weather.  I stood here yesterday.  It was a nice sunny (whoa sunshine!) day to be outside, looking around at the receding season.  It is amazing to us how quickly the snow is melting, hour by hour.  It's not THAT warm but the snow melts all the same which is good and bad.  Good because it means that perhaps we are done with the icy, extreme cold, snowy weather but bad due to the mud and muck that takes place of the frozen ground.  One of the drawbacks to living outside the concrete jungle ☺. Saw a bluebird yesterday.   I checked online and some bluebirds don't migrate, but we haven't seen one all winter - and we certainly had lots of inside days to watch out the windows at the birds.  I think we may be on the home stretch!

Adventures in Pyrography

Last year about this time, I purchased a cheapo woodburning set and some little wood pieces and tried my hand at woodburning.  I made a few...
