Portrait Challenge on Different Strokes from Different Folks

I would like to be able to tell you who this is, but all I can say is, it was a pleasure painting them. As I stated earlier, it was a good photo, and the face being spotlighted in the natural light was a big help. You can check Karin's blog from time to time, I won't know, until this person posts their portrait of me. It's done in oil paint and measure 9" x 12".
Addendum: I now know that I painted artist Victoria Culbertson and she painted me!

That sure turned out well. I was wondering if i should make a background dark to light or just stop. Merry Christmas and keep warm. 32 here and my toes are still cold.

Might give you more a separation from your subject to the edge of the canvas...it's a very good likeness! 32 is cold for you, isn't it? We are having snow, about 7 degrees and wind chill of below zero, dogs won't even go out. Merry Christmas to you!

Hi Pattie, Love this portrait, the eyes say it all. Still have the little gal up on my desktop and am now using it for inspiration. Hope you and your family have a great Christmas.

Thanks Shelley, I have been working hard on mixing those skin tones. Thanks Vern! I feel honored that you would get inspiration from one of my paintings. Both of you have a Merry Christmas!

A successful and very effective portrait! I like the unusual angle and where she's looking, I think it all lent well to the palette you used!

The palette you used added contemporary touch and magic to the pose, congrats on this successful portrait!

Thanks Erika! The photo was a big help on the composition and the eyes really spoke to be the focal point. I feel therein lies the magic.

Oh My!!!
This is absolutley wonderful!! I am so impressed... You've kept it lose showing such interesting brushstrokes, but it conveys such a pleasant uplifted feeling ...
Just very special... whoever this is is ALSO very lucky!!

Happy Holidays!

Seasons Greetings and thanks to you Marian! I can't wait for the reciprocal part to this. I have no idea.

You did a wonderful job on this portrait Pattie, really one of the nicest ones. I did the challenge too but I am still pretty new to portraits but I love the challenge.

Pattie, this is one of my very favorites of all of them so far. The hair and eyes especially, but you have added such wonderful complementary touches -- subtle but just right. Love this!

Thank you Barb and Camille! I certainly appreciate your comments. It is just too cool, to look on the DSFDF site and see all the portraits done so far, and that is just a few considering 130 should end up there. A great way to celebrate the end of the year and Karin's continuation of the phenomenon! Glad you are a part of it, too!

Pattie, I enjoy this portrait every time that I look at it(just about every day). It is great to see who paints the other.

Thanks for stopping by Peggy! I am waiting patiently to have that reciprocal revealing!

Really nice portrait, Pattie! Very nice expression with the eyes. Also nice touch with the background.

Thanks Edward! And you are very lucky to have yours painted by Karin. I can't wait to see your rendition of her, that's no pressure, eh?!

I can't think of anything to add here that someone else hasn't already said. But, I really like it and admire your work!

Dear Pattie,
Thank you for such an interesting portrait you did of me, as everyone else has said the eyes have it. I finished yours today but it is too wet to scan and post until tomorrow. I'll be getting your portrait in just at the deadline, been overloaded and sick but thank God I finished yours, I hope you will like it.

Thanks Victoria. It's great to finally meet you! I have seen your great work on other DSFDF challenges. Being a quilter too - I admire you. It all takes up a lot of time, especially the quilting! Hope you are feeling better. Can't wait for tomorrow. I will be all day in Nebraska and won't get to see it til I get back.
