OK...well...it's ba..a..ack.  I have decided that my muse must have been having fun torturing me these last few weeks - it's not the first time, nor will it be the last - that I can count on.   I love this surface...I can always count on it.  The pastel hangs on it so well and the colors pop and stay rich.  Thanks for all your comments on Sunday's post.  You can still leave a comment, I won't mind.

Your muse has definitely returned - this is gorgeous! I love the warm, sunlit colors and back-lighting on his feathers.

Thanks Claire. I knew I just had to do this owl...and NOW! Things seem to be working again. Go figure, it's still rainy and dreary.

Very nice pastel, Pattie.
We have an owl couple around all the time who live in a storage barn across the way-open on 3 sides with pole rafters that they love to sit on. Our welfare cottontail rabbits[spoiled with carrots]live dangerously throughout the year but several will always survive to begin the process over again every spring.

Gary that would be so cool to see them. We are lucky to get a glimpse at sundown...hear them...watched one go after our local Mr. Skunk one evening..didn't get him then - sure tried to, but I think he did several days later..the smell early in the morning was awful and he isn't around anymore. Our rabbit population undulates also...we have lots of coyotes, as well.

Yes, it's back for you! Awesome pastel of this owl, very powerful and majestic looking! Your colors are excellent! So happy for you!

Beautiful Pattie, the colours are unbelievable in this bird. Our Manitoba owls tend to be fifteen shades of grey/brown. I guess that's why they're called Great Grey owls. We were treated to a nesting pair and three little ones for spring and part of the summer last year. It was probably once in a lifetime, unless the crows rebuild. Owls just like to move in...not into construction, and they don't leave much when they move out. Love the painting.

Thanks Victoria! Owls are very interesting birds aren't they, Vern? I will have to look up those Great Greys you write about. I know we have different ones in addition to the Great Horned, little ones, but not sure what species. They have a mild screech to them. Don't know if that's screech owls or not?
