More From Yesterday's Art

"Sweater Vest"
20" x 24"
pastel on Canson Mi-Tientes
I found this piece of art - photo on a CD.  I was looking for Herman photos to make a CD - just of Herman.  I think I posted this one LONG ago.  It is my favorite of all time, except for cutting off the hand - I used to be afraid to do hands.  Plus, I remember the hands were as they are in the painting, not really in the photo I used.  This is from another knitting magazine.  I like the colors used in the face.  I am working on a pastel right now, same paper.  Seeing this reminds me how it's really the best colored Canson for portraits.

Your work is amazing! I love how you capture the light and shadows in this piece. I'll be watching to see what you do in the Strathmore Visual Journal workshop.

I thought I could dash out and get some of the materials I needed to get my first piece going. Living where I do, you don't just run out and get what you need. I am waiting on delivery of my Mod Podge and white Gesso..I use black most of the time with my art. They aren't due in my driveway until the 21st. I also liked the Strathmore Visual Journal that Pam used, so I ordered a couple of those, as well. The suspense is killing me. In the meantime, I AM (already able to) doing the Sketchbook Challenge, located in my sidebar. Have you checked that out yet? Thanks for stopping by!

Pattie, this may shock you, but I have this knitting magazine. I was always attracted to that photo as well - always loved the tossled hair back then. Fun painting!

Terri - how interesting! I know it is a very long time ago...I had even changed my name and had to obliterate my previous signature and sign a new one, and that has been over 10 years. Collecting so many source photos - I guess you would maybe run into a 'like mind' once in awhile.
