#18 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge

"Yucatan Man"
7" x 7"
oil on Arches oil paper

It was only a matter of time, I hit the wall yesterday afternoon while working on a #18 painting - not this one, but a different one.  Had to think about it today.  In the meantime, this one just off the easel and will DO!
Painted from a little clay statue that my daughter got for me - many years ago - in Merida, Mexico.  I have always wanted to paint him.
He wasn't as easy as I thought he would be.
I DO like the new
(maybe not so new anymore) ARCHES oil paint paper. I like the way the brushes and paint respond to the surface.

And P.S. - OMG - Your studio is to die for! I thought mine was a good size at 20' x 22! No wonder you do such good work. You must be in heaven!

Oh, I just LOVE this painting! I think it is a great subject and you captured it well.

I love it! Funny you should mention the wall. The last two days of painting I have done more wiping than painting - nothing seems to work! I've been away most of today, so will have to see if things are going to be any better tomorrow!
I am also glad to hear your opinion on the arches oil paint paper. I have been wanting to try some, and now I think I will!

Thanks Sandy - I cherish him - he is special. And my studio is a keeper..my DH made sure when we moved here 7 years ago, that I HAD a space - the space I have always wanted. Sounds like you have a good sized space too!

Thanks Claire, the wall is something I am better at taking these days. Used to be I would LEAVE the studio, but I have such a space, I can now go onto something else and not waste the creativity. I love a place where you can just leave stuff out - all over if you want. That Arches is different, but I think I am going to do lots more and get used to it's nuances. Tendency to 'dry brush' easily...so paint definitely needs a medium.
