30 Paintings in 30 Days - #14

Almost hit the wall today..because of 'time'. Went out shopping and to lunch with DH...by the time I got back it was 2 PM.
So thought I would try a self-portrait, which I haven't done in several years..this year I wanted to do SOME, more than one.

I have known artists who have done a whole year of doing self-portraits
wherein that would get extremely tiring,
but I bet that person would start to 'get it down'.
Here is the first one.  My eyes are blue, and the eye sockets were so small, I wasn't successful in painting that part.
Again, I see some areas that need some work, but gotta move on.
That seems to be the theme here - 'keep movin' on'.
Artistic license in operation - yes! - I took off a 'few' years and maybe a few pounds - but it's me.
Done in oil on wrapped canvas, small 6" x 6".

Today is my only child's birthday - Happy Birthday Jess~!!

Nice portrait! I like the strands framing your face on the side. Maybe i should try a SP too...maybe the last day :)

Although I have never seen you in person, I knew that this was you! Love the way you have treated the hair - this is great!

Nice! I think self-portraits are the hardest. Looking forward to seeing more.

Claire, it really isn't this whiteish looking in real life - had to take the photo after dark and I think the lighting was weird. It does look just like me...like I say - a little nip and tuck. I would like to do another one really soon and yes, because they are hard Sandy. You are so right.

You look kind, thoughtful and fun.
And you did it quickly? Amazing.

Well thank you Julie - I am all those and then some - ha! I did this painting TOO quickly - want to revisit it, but time to move onward for now. That is why ANOTHER self portrait is on my list soon. One that I can contemplate for a little time as I work.
