Day 15 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

OK, I have to be honest. This canvas was sitting on a shelf - I had started to paint it about a year ago in acrylic. It was 'way colorful'..I had tried to make the sky with clouds - but HERE most days are cloudless...the bright sun shone across that terraced wheat field...and I didn't have it!  So... I canned it.

Landscapes are a challenge to me, always have been.
I had many of the lines wrong..and the perspective was wonko.
The photo I took was from the crossing highway.  The road goes a little down and hill and then back up again.

I completely painted over it with oil today having to change so much of it that I had done.  I like the way it turned out.
It has taken me a year to get it right in my head but it works for ME now!
I know this grain elevator - oh so well - it is about a mile or so from me, used to work there part-time -
'til I broke my ankle.

I'll bet this 30 in 30 is making you work in different ways. Makes you realize how much you can get done in such a short amount of time.

Thanks Sally - around here, this is the scene in every little town, some are handsome, some are not, I think ours is handsome. Yes, Jess - let's me know, that I CAN paint most days there is enough time to get 'some' art done. And jostling the time has been a creative journey, as well.

Pattie, I love this one. The treatment of the fields is perfect. Sometimes a painting just needs to incubate for a while. I also loved your painting (and story) of your little chick...sweet! -Laurie

Thanks Laurie - I keep digging around for those that never GOT there...there are a few. Interesting how it goes when you TAKE the time to really analyze it. This is giving me a much needed NEW thinking about some of them.
