DAY 8 - Painting 30 Paintings in 30 Days (Cactus)

"Prickly Pear"
6" x 6"
oil paint on wood veneer

Arizona has so many species of cacti. I guess my favorite,
because of it's shape, is the Prickly Pear kind.
There are several varieties of them.

I found these along the Salt River from Mesa up to Pinetop.
Someone had even carved their initials
into one.  So sad.  I left that out.

DAY 7 - Painting 30 Paintings in 30 Days (Sunflower)

"Sunflower with Thistle and Privet Berries"
12" x 12"
oil on 2" wrapped canvas
SOLD

This one happened SO fast.  Painted from
one of the many great source photos
provided by my florist daughter in
Fort Collins.   She makes
the prettiest arrangements!

Thanks for sharing Jess.

Loved this one!

DAY 6 - Painting 30 Paintings in 30 Days (Sparrow)

"Passerby"
6" x 6"
oil on birch panel

It is so cold here, this little bird was so puffed up
and waiting his turn at the bird feeder.   We go through a 'pitcher'-size of
wild bird seed each day.
The sparrows have found it to be a very
competitive activity with the local rabbits
and squirrels.

And there seems to be a kazillion sparrows right now,
well fed, I must say.

Painting 30 in 30 - Day 10/Grass

"Window Grass"
14" x 14"
mixed media on wrapped canvas

Finally, getting true to my goal making when I began.
Stepping WAYYY out of my comfort zone.
But I have to confess, this was just
more fun to do, than anything
I have done in awhile.

Painting 30 in 30 - Day 9/Deer

"Innocence"
7" x 9"
mixed media
watercolor/colored pencil/gouache

Painted from a photo that I borrowed from my
friend - Danni.  I loved
the sweet look on this white-tail's face
as he obviously was aware that
something was going on.

Danni has an awesome blog
On the Way to Critter Farm.
You can visit it HERE.

Thanks Danni!

Painting 30 in 30 - Day 6/Trout

"Rainbows"
10" x 20"
mixed media (watercolor, gouache and acrylic)
on wrapped canvas
(SOLD)

I have tried to 'fish' from time to time..catching only a few fish in my entire life, however,
I have been around a lot of fishing addicts who LOVE to fish so this quote seems
to make sense to me.

"If people concentrated on the really important things in life,
there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."
-Doug Larson

Rainbow Trout, seem to me - the most beautiful fish, if you think
a fish could be lovely.  To me, it is.

Painting 30 in 30 - Day 4/Abstract 3

Part Three of "Annual Checkup"
10" x 10"
mixed media

This is how they might look hanging on your wall, maybe not so much spacing between.

Tomorrow, onto other things.  Almost didn't do this number 3 today and postpone it to another day.
Glad I did it - however, big dirty brush water container spill -
all over everything at floor level.  Ugh...

Number 30 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

"On Patrol"
5" x 6"
watercolor on Arches

Doin' the Happy Dance...cause I DID
30 Paintings in 30 Days for
the third year in a row
in the month of January!!!!

This is my sweet doxie boys at
the front window...
Chaco the red and Hasty Herman
the black and tan (not with us
anymore).

I loved the perspective of this pose.
Not my best painting, but it will do.

I have a few absolute favorites in the
30 days.

I have learned alot.  I have learned
that I really am much more comfortable
with doing watercolors than I
thought.  And it's from
LOOKING at them., studying them,
reading what other's do when they
paint with watercolor, and watching
a few videos in this past year.

I LOVE IT - and I think I will be focusing
alot on it throughout the year.
I also love to paint in oil and do a
pastel once in awhile.

All in all - this 30 were better than any 30 in 30 before.

The next thing I will be focusing on is getting a
few pastels done for a small painting
show with the MidAmerica Pastel Society
in Kansas City.

So NOT so many postings every day - but if
you have been visiting my blog
throughout the month of January,
I invite you to come back often.

I really enjoy your company!!

Number 29 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

"Xander II"
watercolor on Arches
6" x 6" (approx)

Here is a better painting of Xander..didn't like the one
that I did the other day, but when you
are in a crunch to do ONE a day,
and you start kind of late in the day
and you are driven
that is what happens.

I like this one much better.
Ahhhh..only ONE more to go!!!!!!!

Adventures in Pyrography

Last year about this time, I purchased a cheapo woodburning set and some little wood pieces and tried my hand at woodburning.  I made a few...
