I love looking at these collectively.
I love animals.
I have a 'renewed friend' ~ 'watercolor'.
They shakeout number wise like this:
18 ~ dog paintings
7 ~ cat paintings
3 ~ bird paintings
1 ~ horse painting
1 ~ piglet painting
(oh and 1 person in a painting)
That's probably something I will work on next -
and I always work on it,
'people in watercolor'.
MY focus for this challenge was ANIMALS - and then I left it open on the medium.
Oil is very comfortable to me, so I took it out of that mode a little over halfway
to something NOT so comfortable, watercolor.

AND 'MEDIUM' WISE they are:
17 ~ oil paintings
12 ~ watercolors
(thanks to the 'Trumpeter Swan' for speaking to me so loudly)
1 ~ pastel
(how can I let the time go by without doing my first love - pastel?)
I learned - watercolor CAN BE forgiving. My experience with it is just
a little and what has always had me at arms length with it, IS that uncertainty.
But having the OK to really experiment has taught me much.
I find my favorite surface is plain old 140 semi-rough Arches WC paper.
I have tons of watercolor paints, but found using those top brands out of tubes
is the best for vivid color and pigment flow.
Those little trays of color that you pick up, with strange unknown names
will not last for very long UV wise.

If you purchased one of these, I thank you again
and again, it helps with the cost of materials
for the future - art stuff isn't cheap.
I have met some new friends in the blogosphere.
Thanks to Leslie Saeta for hosting this
January 30 in 30 -
if you don't know about
her and all she does for art, you really should
visit her blog and
sift through a myriad of 'good things'.
I hope to take more time
to listen to more of her BlogTalk Radio,
"Artists Helping Artists".
I will leave her link on the sidebar.
You might want to go there today
to see the many collages
that have been posted.

I have so enjoyed seeing your daily posts, Patti! My heart melts for the top right one and the one right below that one. They all are fantastic, but those 2 send me to the moon!
Thanks Karen for your visits and comments - I like those two too. I can say that there are only a couple that I sort of cringed to post..won't say which ones, cause those have been commented favorably on, and art is such a personal taste AND there was no time to paint another for that day...but I know technically which ones are my 'betters'. I have enjoyed getting familiar with new people and what makes them tick in their art, you are one of them!
Hi, Pattie! I like the way you've analyzed your production and maybe I will go back and do the same with mine...later. Anyway, since we're picking faves, I like the dog on the left top and the cat at the top too, and yes, they're all very good!
Thanks Carol, I like people picking faves - it helps me to remember, each piece speaks to others' in different ways. That's what I like about 'living' art...speaking to someone's heart, don't you?
I can't pick a favorite but I do love the close ups. Wonderful colors.
OK, I will: Zander II and Gunny and Tempo and Venus and Venture and Herman in his "nest" and Bailey and Bruno (no question he is a Swiss Mtn dog).
I am sitting with a pot of tea looking at EVERY collage posted today.
Thank you for all your kind comments if I neglected to do so at the time.
Be well, C

Beautiful work, Patti! Your love of animals shows and how cool that you "braved" watercolor! Hope to see more of your work!
