In the Land of Hunting Dogs

"Raylea"
8" x 11"
watercolor on 140 lb. Strathmore
Where I live, there are alot of breeds of hunting dogs...some hunt, some do not.
This is a friend's Brittany Spaniel.  Today's need was to paint an animal, which is my favorite thing to paint.

This is wonderful Pattie! We had a brittany for 16 years, they are sweet dogs. Ours was liver and roan, kind of unusual coloring. One of my daughters friends one time said she looked like Cookie & Creme ice cream. lol I hope you are healing well.

This one has more liver tone on her head, but I was enraptured by the rich rusty color, so I stuck with it. Glad you had one, I hear they are very loyal and smart. Cookies and Cream, yes! I get to go to the doctors on Tues. I have sat on my rearend for 45 days, but who's counting...ha! I imagine I may get to start putting weight on it with crutches and the boot still on after this trip, to build it for some rehab soon!! Still lots of swelling, even with it elevated..the body does strange things when it's injured, but it IS resilient if you are healthy otherwise. I am really hoping to come out of this unscathed. Crossin my fingers, big time!!!!

Raylea is gorgeous...what a lovely expression you've captured in her eyes.

Thank you Serena. I always start with the eyes, gotta get them right before I move on. Appreciate your comments!

Growing up, my family always had Brittanys. They are THE BEST and you capture this one so well!
