Where I Stand Sunday

Ditto from last week, although there aren't as many IV's in her arm. Mom is doing LOTS better. May get to go home early week, we hope! It will be a long and diligent recovery and treatment, still, we are glad she is alive and getting well! Thanks to those who sent kind thoughts and prayers. I have begun to feel the lag in my blogging, but my world has been on one big hold.

I came here without my art supplies - silly me. Got myself supplied yesterday and will hopefully be back to it today!

Where I Stand Sunday

The ground underneath my feet trembles,

The sky above turns a dingy gray.

Clouds linger ominously.

Waiting and waiting and worried faces.

Caring and whispering “I love yous”

Watching  - as the person we call “mom”

returns from her journey out of forced sleep’s

return from the “Land of Anesthesia” causing

confusion and frustration.

With her ailment’s name written on the wind

ever to be blown – far, far from this place.

“Be still my friend, rest and be well my friend. 

Tomorrow is another day -

drink of this life –

while the door is still open.

I love you..”

CHECK OUT WHAT I WAS BLOGGING ABOUT LAST YEAR AND 2 YEARS AGO...

I have shared a bunch about me and my life, as well as learned a bunch about myself. Many people don't completely understand what blogging is all about...but for me, it's been a way to validate, communicate and keep track of seasonal happenings where I live. I have found each year to be different and I love to see how my thinking and psyche grew (or didn't) and what I learned. Time flies - and it is good to review my thoughts and accomplishments. The other 'plus' is making new friends; having others comment on my writing or my art or my photos. This post finds me out and about - time for some resource photography. I will return next week.

I promise not to eat them all and save one for you!

Wild dogs – country dogs – can’t handle the big city very well, lots of barking and carrying on, not socialized worth a damn – too hyper (I must be that way too – LOL)…too much time on the farm, I guess, not enough training.  We have done lots of dog walking and enjoying the sunshine in the park near where we stay sometimes.  Lots of wildfowl.  Big geese, little geese, mallards and many tortoises laying in the sun. Onward back to OZ tomorrow.

Where I Stand Sunday

I stand in the house of my parents, a half days drive from my house. Although I have never lived in this house, it’s still home..it’s still full of warmth and love.  It’s Mother’s Day and I am glad to be spending it with mom reminiscing about the past and enjoying “just today and every day”…the mom who put up with me throughout the years - all my growing aches, pains and the good stuff, too.  The mom who taught me so much, just by being “my mom” and the great woman she is.  I love you!  Thanks!

OK Techies..Let's See Now...

If you Facebook, you know there are several apps that you can play with and publish to your page. While playing with one this morning I made an interesting discovery of something that has been whizzing through my mind from time to time..I will get to that in a minute. The app I used found famous people with your same first name. I found five other (female) Patties. Pattie Boyd, Pattie Petty, Pattie Anne Browne, Pattie Darcy Jones and Pattie Maes. I was somewhat familiar with the first three, found that Pattie Darcy Jones was a raspy voiced backup singer to Cher and appeared on Broadway in "Smoky Joe's Cafe" and Pattie Maes is in the vid I have included below, along with Pranav Mistry. You will have to watch the video from TED to learn more about her. It starts out kind of slow, but if you can hang in there the whole time, you will learn something very thought provoking.

Now, on to what my mind has been thinking for so long. When will they develop a "chip" that they'll be able to implant into our head that does the work of communication, storing, videoing, etc...I think Pattie Maes, et al, are getting nearer to that "Sixth Sense"...I found this amazing. Thought about it's application (some may think "implication") for visual artists...what do you think?

Where I Stand Sunday

Today our artist group met in Beloit, Ks. to turn in our paperwork for a group show that begins May 31st and runs through June 30th, at the Deines Cultural Art Center in Russell, Kansas.  We had ‘dinner’ together then met at the Beloit Train Depot to discuss our upcoming fall/winter show.  If you follow my blog, we had our first annual show at this venue last December.  There were nine of us today and we climbed up on this old delivery dock at the depot to take my “where I stand” photo. Our show in Russell will be called…

“Our View From Here”
