A Dog Portrait Commission in Oil

"Boone"
12" x 12"
oil on wrapped canvas
This commission is finished.  Needs signature and drying time.  Boone was a Redbone Coonhound.  He passed before his time in a freak accident when a tree fell on him during a violent thunderstorm.  It took him instantly.  So sad.  From the stories the owner has told me, he was quite a character.  Seems as though I have run into so many people
who are grieving their loss of a dear 'pet friend and family member'.
I get such enjoyment from painting animals...I think I have said that so many times.
It is what keeps me so interested in painting.

Love this portrait, you have done a wonderful job on this coonhound and captured great expression in his eyes.

Beautiful, sensitive portrait Pattie. Sorry to read of your Mother's continuing battles. All the best to her, you and your family. Happy Easter.

Thank you Maria and Vern. As pet owners it smoothes over the rough spots when you have more pets at home, which this owner does. She has more Coonhounds and it seems like they would be very good companions and friends. And I give thanks for my kind and thoughtful friends. Thanks Vern. Mom is still in a fog that stretches far and wide. Some days it seems as though she will never make it back to the real world again. I keep hopin'.

Pattie - I just can't tell you how happy I am with this painting. You captured Boone perfectly! It will be such a blessing to have a reminder of him for years to come. You are extremely intuitive and talented! Thanks again so much!!!!

@Sandy - as always, when I paint someone's furry loved one, it is an honor and my hope to preserve the memory that you visit as time goes forward. It is a wonderful way to remember...You are welcome.
