Day 9 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

"Be Right Back"
12" x 16"
oil on wrapped canvas

I roughed this one in a few days ago,
and today was a good day to get it back out and finish it.

Here are two photos of the process -
before I even drew it in with paint, I gridded the canvas into fourths,
so I could put get the perspective right.
Then I used a really big brush to mass in some of the darks
and some of the colors to get it going.

I kept working around the canvas, my next goal was to
cover the canvas with at least
the color undertones.

I still need to work on the rust colored 'throw'.
I will keep it nearby and think about what and how -
already see a place to start with from just the final photo.

On the CD carousel today:
Beatles
Maroon 5
Elton John
Rush

P.S. A good friend supplied me with the photo for inspiration.
There is a red ribbon tied to the lamp, because she likes it alot.
Makes THIS - HER space for sure!!

Again looks so much better here than on fb! Wonder why that is? Thanks for sharing your process too, it is so interesting to find out how others bring their paintings together!

I really love your blog page. Everything about it is so professional. Love the background color. Love the way you have a photo by each post on the side panel. You really know marketing, it seems. Did you take Leslie's class on that? Your paintings are very fine tuned too!

Hi Karen - thanks for your comments. On the blog, I have had no classes or help, just me, probably because over the last 7 years, it has been my focus to make it better and to make it grow into exactly what I think is important. I LOVE color and although many pro blogs have blackish, grayish simple backgrounds (admit I go there once in awhile) I feel good about looking at COLORS. My blog is ME. It's also important to me to honor those blogs I visit often or admire. Many of the sidebar features help me with my own traffic ideas and success or failure. Anyway thanks for your visit!
