Painting 30 in 30 - Day 21/Bird

"A Pause in the Feast"
10" x 10"
acrylic mixed media
(acrylic, collage, watercolor)

I have ONE pair of cardinals living
here this winter.
Such a sight to see, when you look
out the window at the bird
feeder and see them.
She comes first then he comes in
a little bit.
Hoping to paint him in the next few.

DH took the screen out of the
kitchen window, so
I could shoot with my long range
as they visited.
Very skiddish birdies.

Sometimes, I need to add a frame,
just because I know it
will look dynamite in one.

I LOVE this! The texture is amazing. And "Eclipse" is awesome, too, Pattie!

Thanks Laurie! I am loving this texture, something I haven't done for a LONG time.

Pattie, LOVE the texture here! What did you use for your collage material? Would love to play around with something the likes of this.

Redbird Highway is similarly compelling. Love its abstract nature.

Cheers,
Dotty

Hi Dotty - thanks - I used colored tissue paper adhered with acrylic matte medium. I scrunch it while it's first applied.

Oh, and don't forget to seal it with medium before you paint - it makes a better surface.
