DAY 22 - Painting 3 Paintings in 30 Days (Dahlias)

"Variety Show"
5" x 7"
pastel on pumiced gatorboard

If you think these paintings just roll off my brush or pastel
each of these days, think again.

Today was the ultimate frustration day.
It began with dragging out some blocked in
dog paintings..that I thought I would retackle
and try to finish.  They were started in acrylic
but I was going to continue in oil..no sweat.
Come to find out, my style has changed SO much in the past
couple of years since I started them
they just didn't happen.
I wiped off the oil, went back to acrylic
only to waste more time.
So put them away...will probably never go back to them.

The verdict is - too small of figures to do it justice, I paint
with bigger brush strokes, not tiny ones anymore.

In the meantime, I took a couple hours out around lunch
to make a homemade gluten free pizza.
It turned out super!
Wanted to watch the playoff game too.
Listened on Sirius radio for awhile, but I
didn't like the announcers take on the game
so turned it off.

This pastel of dahlias is a 'hit or miss' at best.
Chalk it up to DONE ~ as number 22.

(can I count the other two paintings I was working
on most of the day?)

Tomorrow I will get an earlier start.

I had a very similarly frustrating day. Some days just get chalked up to "finished enough." Going to bed early tonight to get an early start on tomorrow's painting.

Love the hits of yellow in this!

Yup, we can all relate to this type of day... And "hit or miss?" This is a hit!

Adventures in Pyrography

Last year about this time, I purchased a cheapo woodburning set and some little wood pieces and tried my hand at woodburning.  I made a few...
