DAY 8 - Painting 30 Paintings in 30 Days (Cactus)

"Prickly Pear"
6" x 6"
oil paint on wood veneer

Arizona has so many species of cacti. I guess my favorite,
because of it's shape, is the Prickly Pear kind.
There are several varieties of them.

I found these along the Salt River from Mesa up to Pinetop.
Someone had even carved their initials
into one.  So sad.  I left that out.

This is awesome, Pattie! I love the light in this painting. Also, the sunflower painting, but I think my favorite (so far) is "Passerby"...LOVE it!

We have this kind of cacti in Greece, too and there are a lot of them... I like their fruit, although it's difficult to collect them and peel them as well.
Very nice painting, I love the background as it contrasts with the subject.
I also have a great feelling of the sunlight!

Thanks Laurie. 'Passerby' was so quick and fun. Thanks Chris..sunlight is what it is all about, right? Mariela - I have never had any of that fruit. I used to have a big collection of all kinds of cacti as home plants...they are hardy, but DO need some care - some I let go too long, and little spiders love living in them. Thanks all!
